MY DREAMS FOR GEC PALAKKAD-VISION 2015

                               Students have to be instilled a feel of "Engineering", what actually Engineering is. Many students failed in life because of the fact that they lacks confidence and don't even have their dream goal  set. First of all, students joining in the first year classes have to be given proper instructions and guidance of what engineering is. Many of them are here just because they just didn't find any other field, they are not even determined of the level of responsibility they need to handle in pursuing this course. So we must give a compulsory introduction sessions for first year students in each month. Then they get an idea what  to do with it.

                               Students who finds difficulty in studying has to be given special attention and focus and special classes are to be conducted in favor of them. This will ensures proper academic merits for all students which highlights the facts that only brilliant students get into here. Prior considerations to be given to weak students and thus we can strengthen our academic excellence. 

                                Next, we need to conduct extra classes that are completely differing from our syllabus but can help us get updated in the respective fields. This is an added advantage to the students.Timely practical activities including workshops should be given by experienced professionals and this makes our students keeps ahead in the today's competitive world.

                            We also need to conduct some programs in personality development and to improve speaking skills of the students. More interactive classes including group discussion sessions, mock interviews, all to eliminate the stage fear of students and give them a chance to express themselves in front of a set of people that can definitely improve their confidence level.

                            Its a bit shocking fact that many of the students who have opt engineering and studying here, are not at all aware of their future and rarely have future plans. This condition has to be improved. Students should be give proper guidance and introduction classes to wide areas after engineering has to be revealed to them by organizing career guidance events.

                            We need to improve in the fields of Arts and Sports too. We should ensure the working of our Drama and Orchestra groups and provide them all supports from the students side. In every programs that we conduct in our college, we need to include at least one performance from them. Many talented students studies here and we should organize events in such a way that we could recognize the hidden talents of our students . We should also give opportunities for them to express it in front of everyone. We should give due concern that no student has to keep silence due to lack of opportunity.

                    We have many on going and finished technical or non-technical activities in our college. The existing events are really very good works and many of them have successfully conducted. But I have more creative ideas for my college. We need to inspire our students in technical fields by conducting various workshops, in any interesting fields like Robotics. This provides an opportunity for students to just get relaxed from their boring theory classes and focus on practical aspects.

                  Many students who were able to study well and had extra ordinary academic history have been found that they are not exploring their abilities when they get to engineering. This may be due to their heavy workloads, or tiresome record works, or tough syllabus when compared to their school times, or whatever. Anyway, many students were not found to be able to manage their transition from school life to college life. So, I think small orientation classes that can be conducted by senior students can do much. They can use this chance to know about their juniors well, to share their experiences with them and finally creating a friendly environment in the college between seniors and juniors through these interactions. Such events, conducted under the control of faculties can seriously nullify the negative impact of Ragging to some extent.

A PEEP INTO THE PAST

                               Government Engineering College, Sreekrishnapuram, affiliated to Calicut University, which started its working in a rented building, has developed in an unbelievable manner that we see it today. Ignoring the fact that the college is still in its growing stage, we have many achievements in our hand to be proud of. From a rented building, we moved into a fully equipped building, being titled as the largest single-building engineering College of Kerala. We have the excellent opportunity of accessing all departments, their classrooms, staff rooms, labs, office, everything in a single buliding.

                             We had many achievements in the academic as well as extra-curricular field within a short span of time. We have brilliant set of students in our various departments including Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering. Our passed-out batches had brought to us University Ranks. Some of them were also able to participate in paper presentations in the national level and presented their successful project in such occasions. Our college is still developing in all areas and let us wait for more and more achievements from our students.
